Jay Z Took A Jab At Phil Jackson Over The “Posse” Comment He Made About LeBron James

LeBron James might not be all that interested in talking about the “posse” comment that Phil Jackson made about him and his family and friends during a recent ESPN.com interview, but Jay Z sure is. On Monday night, the rapper appeared at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. to introduce LeBron to the audience who came out to celebrate Sports Illustrated naming LeBron the 2016 Sportsperson of the Year. And during his introduction, Jay Z took a swipe at Jackson’s comments by poking fun at the “posse” remark he made.“[LeBron is] the son who honors and worships his mother Gloria,” Jay Z said. “The friend who put his posse in position.

Jay Z went on to talk about LeBron’s “posse” of family and friends and all that he has done for them throughout the course of his NBA career just to drive home his point. “We know where we come from. We do understand where we come from,” Jay Z said. “The only difference between us and someone who has their MBA from Wharton or Sloan or Berkeley or Stanford is opportunity. LeBron James has provided his friends with that opportunity, and we’ve witnessed their development. And if we’re to look up at that scoreboard, very few businessmen are better than Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, Randy Mims, and all the rest of the posse behind the scenes that make it look like they’re just hanging out.”

Jackson has already gone on the record and said that he will not talk any further about his “posse” comment. Technically, he’s not supposed to be talking about players from other NBA teams during interviews, so he’s going to refrain from discussing LeBron or his “posse” from now on. But it’s clear that the world—and specifically, those in LeBron’s world—are not going to let him forget about it.
