“And thou wilt find the nearest in friendship to the believers(Muslims) to be those who say, We are Christians. That is because there are priests and monks among them and because they are not proud.” (Qur’an 5:82)
The Hon. Louis Farrakhan once said if Jesus and Prophet Muhammad(Peace be upon them) were standing on this stage with me they would both embrace, because they come from the same root, God. However, the followers of both divine prophets, in many cases, have not found the same love because of supposed religious differences. Muslims killing Christians and Christians killing Muslims dominate the news, but we all supposedly worship the same righteous God?
Part of the mission of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan is to destroy these divisions in religion. From the beginning of his rebuilding of the Nation of Islam, he has sought to create unity between the Church and Mosque, between Muslim and Christian. He has done this in spite of outside forces trying to destroy our unity.
The largest demonstration of this unity was The Million Man March where 2/3 of those interviewed identified as Christian believers, yet they were standing right next to their Muslim believing brother in love and unity. From the divine works and ministry of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, Black Muslims and Black Christians have found way to unite for the good of our community. However, after the success of Black Muslim & Black Christian unity during the Million Man March certain elements of “White Christians” went to work to create hostilities between both camps. This should tell us clearly who the enemy of our rise is.
The Black Man And Woman have a large role and big shoes to fill as a people that God has chosen for his own wise purposes today. We are to show the world an example of righteousness after our salvation.
“God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.” 1 Corhinthian 1:28
Historically, when the Muslims were being persecuted in Arabia 1400 years ago Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) advised his followers to emigrate to Ethiopia, a Christian Nation, where he said no one is done wrong. When the Muslims were in a vulnerable state it was their Chrstian brothers and sisters from Africa who aided them from persecution.
In light of the images of Muslims in the Middle East killing Christians, The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, during Pt.2 of his Saviours’ Day 2015 address, brought to the stage a Muslim woman who donated one of her kidneys to her Christian student to ensure his life. We need to celebrate stories like this, because we as Black Muslims and Black Christians can show an example(to the world) of loving each other despite how we worship God.
-From the news story as reported in the Final Call newspaper
“When news stories and articles are replete with stories people across the globe being targeted and killed because of their religious beliefs, Minister Farrakhan used a selfless act of a Muslim sister to demonstrate the true principles that should be exhibited by members of different faiths. It was also consistent with guidance given to him by his teacher that the best religion is the “do unto others as you would have done unto you.
He called Sister Nadirah Muhammad to the stage and used her as an example of what Muslims striving to follow the principles of their religion, will do for their Christian brothers and sisters who are doing the same.”
And now 20 years later Black Muslims, Black Christians and others must remember the spirit of the Million Man March and seek love & unity at all costs. In a time where we are all catching hell whether we are black Muslims or black Christians let’s be intelligent and unite on the basis for which we are catching hell… Because we are BLACK!
